Harry Potter Quotes

As part of our Harry Potter study, we chose some quotes from the series and then we discussed them.

We then picked the quotes that we liked best (or in the case of a certain child, the one that didn't look too long to write!) and wrote them in Sharpie's onto some of our dinner plates and then low baked them so they'd set.

These are the quotes we have chosen thus far ...

- It is our choices, Harry that show us who we truly are, far more than our abilities.

- We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.

- We must all make the choice what is right and what is easy.

- what's comin' will come and we'll meet it when it does.

And these are some more that we are going to do ... some plates were int he dishwasher and I really couldn't be bothered handwashing them ...

- If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.

- It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

- Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

- It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.

We are a bit chuffed with them ... cause we are quite nerdy that way.

  1. Well, I'm nerdy too because I LOVE them!!!

    1. Thanks ... nice easy craft, not too much mess so I was happy. ;)

  2. Lisa,

I love the quotes! Lots to think about there. I also love the plates! I didn't know plates can be decorated with Sharpies. We have dozens of them in all colours. I must pass on your idea to the girls. Oh yes, I must pass on the suggestion to read Harry Potter too!

    1. Sue we have noticed that some of the Sharpies wash off after a while, especially if they are not the REAL one's. My pink one washed off so am re-doing that in another colour. So I would suggest you trial and old plate or cup before you get the girls to go crazy decorating as I'd hate for their works of art to totally disappear.

I love inspirational quotes. I'd have them everywhere if I could.

  3. Lisa,

Thanks for that tip. We have real Sharpies but we'll still do a trial test before decorating our best china!

  4. What a great idea. I love the quotes. I like the first one the best. i think it's very true.

    1. Hi Rebecca, thanks for commenting. Yes I'd agree, it is most definitely true. I tell my girls that even in the depths of despair and times when we feel powerless that we still have the CHOICE with how we deal with things, so are never truly powerless and those choices we make define who we are.
